So this is the newest stuff that I documents right now. Email me, shulll3@winthrop.edu or find me on facebook if you want to talk about concepts, themes, buying on or anything at all.

You really need to see this one in person to get the full effect.

Detail

This next piece is a crayon drip painting. It is the by product of the crayon wall drip paintings.

Detail

Here is a Monotype from the same class.

Detail

This is the last relief print from the class. It is 75$ and is a multi drop print.
It is titled "So Help Me God"

These next two random posts are from last semester. They are for sale.

This is end of the class after this drawing. This class has been a very saving experience.

Conceptually these seeds are remnants of the bulbous infection/disease on the whore's head from the previous drawing. They are contaminating another environment, its cyclical.

Detail
(The birds are recurring here)

(Disclaimer: She too needs a little touching up, but not much)
This piece with the fox woman is, in my opinion, the most successful drawing the semester for myself. This is also probably the most personal as well.

Detail
This series as well has the most well developed concept behind each work. Ask me about it.

(Disclaimer: This drawing still needs some touching up)
These drawings seg-wayed themselves into the latest series, and I am again really excited about this. I think I have finally started to find a place that I am both interested in and nervous about within my drawing work.

Detail

This is the final drawing of this series. These are two dead birds, the latter in vibrant red being fairly abstracted.

Detail

This is the second drawing (The Fish) and deals with the feeling of being constrained and having unrealistic juxtapositions visually.

detail

This is the beginning of my second serious in the class. Again, these are not "celebration" drawings but negative environment and circumstances.

detail
I also began incorporating my two cats and spectator birds.

This is not the first drawing of the semester but I feel like it is at this drawing that I built the rest of the class off of. This semester's body of work is extremely personal to me, and I dealt with contamination and negativity in each work. You can email me if you have any questions about the concept or price.

NEW ART! okay, so I am FINALLY updating images from this year, and right now I am going to display the drawings from this semester that I have done. It is showing the new directions of where I am going visually, and I am really excited about it. Many people have been very supportive in the journey that I am taking to find my own voice. A few are still in need of some tweaking but mostly, they are complete.

I am working on creating a cleaner division of where the wax starts and wall meet.

I have gone back to wax, and this is the newest piece that I have started. It is an instillation and is a row of melted crayon wax.

For me the piece above, was a huge step for myself in branching out beyond my own limitations. It is a 2x4 hung between two walls, very much invading the space. I was physically building a landscape. It is not yet done.

Later in the semester I wanted to go back to a more 2-dimensional way of working, and here is an experimental piece that I made with a collage of found elements in wax, latex, acrylic and resin. It has fallen apart but I think I have found something in working this way.

Steak anyone? No, I didnt think so. This is a close up of the texture the paint has on the hanging piece. Strange.
This is a work to go along with the poured acrylic piece. This is a wall hanging, again, a pure wax structure.

I started off the semester really struggling with how to expand my 2-dimensional work and I decided that the best way to start is to work with different materials and textures. here is a wax painting that I made. Its pure wax with poured acrylic paint on top.

Here are some pieces from my painting class. I really tried to push myself and go beyond my own expectations. I really grew this year, in terms of having a greater imagination and appreciation of materials, although I am not so happy with the art that I produced. I covered a lot of ground, but I have decided to take an independent study with Shaun Cassidy next semester as I need more time to explore alternative approaches in painting.

New work for New Year

This piece is a still life drawing that was assigned in the middle of the semester. I have reworked this drawing already but i do not think that I am quite done yet. The piece needs more blue violet I think.
This is the fourth drawing for that same series.

First piece I did of a 5 part series that is based on seeds. I took inspiration from the form, texture, color and size of different seeds to create each work.

Monotype Piece, working again with the camera. The top part is pure monotype, the bottom is dry pastel, transfer, and dry pastel.

Camera drawing that goes along in series with the polaroid piece.

This is a drawing from the first series of the semester, Finally I have started to loosen up.

This work above is based on physical imagery, i.e. cameras, polaroids, etc...

This work above me is a severely abstracted drawing using colored pencil and dry pastel, conceptually it deals with organic form and plant life. This is the most abstract I have gone so far in dry media.

Its been an entire semester but I now have a good pile of work to post.
This semester I really strayed from the stylistic approach I have had, meaning I went pretty abstract with my work. I was in a sculptural painting class this year, as well a drawing class which was very free in terms of how I could work. Here are some pieces from those classes. I'll post some more work from printmaking later.

Here are some paintings that I have as well, All from Painting 1 or Painting 2

I am currently working on some new stuff right now, that I can't wait to finish and share

The painting of the boy right above the fish is of my really good friend Mike, he was a good sport about the whole thing.

These pieces are from figure drawing, my first time ever attempting the human figure
The first drawing, of the seated woman, is not my favorite but I included it because of the line quality, seeing as that's the most honest example I have here

Okay, So i've been meaning to do this for some time. Today it is raining outside and I do not need to go into work later, so now seems to be the perfect opportunity to set things up.

Let's start from near the very beginning.
